Agroinnova San Salvador awards outstanding entrepreneurs

Wednesday, May 31st. PROINNOVA, the innovation division of the Salvadoran Foundation for Economic and Social Development (FUSADES), held the awards ceremony of the business growth program Agroinnova San Salvador. This event brought together entrepreneurs who competed for personalized technical assistance and seed capital to enable them to realize projects such as launching new products or expanding operations.

This “Demo-Day” brought together 37 projects in the areas of food, beverages, natural cosmetics and agribusinesses that completed the training program. Of these, 10 were selected as finalists by PROINNOVA’s technical committee and then presented their business proposals to an external jury. The best five initiatives were declared the winners of the 20th edition of Agroinnova.

The five winners will receive personalized assistance from PROINNOVA technicians to implement the project selected by the entrepreneurs. In addition, the first two places will receive a seed capital incentive thanks to Iniciativa DINÁMICA and BAC Credomatic. The support in technical assistance is equivalent to $25 thousand dollars, while the capital delivered will be $5 thousand dollars in total.

The award ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of the United States in El Salvador, William Duncan; the President of FUSADES, Juan Daniel Alemán Gurdián; the European Union’s cooperation attaché in El Salvador, Natalia Otamendi; CABEI’s Senior Country Executive for El Salvador, Fernando Larín; Mercy Ramos de Paz, CABEI Financial Institutions Executive; Miguel Jacobo, Business Manager of PROPEMI – BAC Credomatic; and Samuel Salazar, Director of the Technological Innovation Program (PROINNOVA).
