The U.S. Embassy in San Salvador is seeking candidates for unpaid temporary interns to assist the following sections:


The U.S. Embassy in San Salvador is offering an opportunity to participate in an unpaid internship to assist the Department of Homeland Security – ICE for six months. This internship is uncompensated, not entitled to benefits and the student is not to be considered and employee of the U.S. mission, the U.S. Department of State, or the USG.


  • Carryout non-sensitive duties related to intergovernmental projects between the U.S. and El Salvador.
  • Assist in projects that work toward efforts related to International Law Enforcement Cooperation.
  • Perform clerical functions, accounting and budgeting duties, and other tasks assigned related to office management.

Desired Profile:

  • Minimum availability of 20 hours per week
  • Fluency in English
  • Active university student in at least their 1st year of career
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must be in a good academic standing
  • Must be able to receive a successful security and medical certification from post

  • Statement of Interest
  • University transcripts
  • University authorization letter
  • Signed Gratuitous Service Agreement form
