The Public Affairs Office of the U.S. Embassy works with the media, universities, cultural institutions, educational institutions, private organizations and other Salvadoran organizations to enhance mutual understanding between the people of the United States and El Salvador through the dissemination of information about the United States, professional and academic exchange programs, cultural performances, support for English language teaching, and youth programs.
The Public Affairs Office is divided into two sections:
The Cultural Affairs Section offers programs that present a fuller picture of American policy, as well as American society, its values and beliefs. It manages U.S. government-administered professional and educational exchange programs, including the Fulbright Scholarships.
The Press Section handles all relations between the Embassy and the Salvadoran, U.S., and international media, responding to questions from the press, and providing information on U.S. foreign policy and current issues. They arrange interviews with U.S. government officials, and publicize all U.S. government activities and programs in El Salvador.
