August 29, 2023

The United States Government, through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), delivered a donation of equipment to the Casa de la Cultura José Tomás Minero Domínguez, in Ciudad Delgado, San Salvador, to support 350 young participants of the project Jóvenes Construyendo el Futuro of the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation (AMEXCID).

The ceremony was presided over by U.S. Ambassador William Duncan, Mexican Ambassador Ricardo Cantú Garza, and the Mayor of Ciudad Delgado, Mario Vásquez.

The equipment includes laptops, desks and chairs for the technology classroom; oven, mixer, industrial stove, industrial blender, blender, coffee maker for the kitchen and cafeteria classroom; and hair dryers, mirrors, manicure tables and others for the beauty and cosmetology classroom.

The initiative, called “Sowing Opportunities,” (Sembrando oportunidades) is part of the U.S.-Mexico bilateral cooperation framework announced in December 2021. These efforts seek to address the root causes of migration from Central America. To this end, USAID and AMEXCID are coordinating resources and development expertise to help the citizens of Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador take advantage of opportunities and build a prosperous future in their communities.
