Chargé d’Affairs, Brendan O’ Brien Takes the Helm in El Salvador 

The United States Ambassador, Jean E. Manes has left the post as of the 31 of July. After her departure, Mr. Brendan O’ Brien will assume the position for the U.S. Embassy in El Salvador until the next ambassador arrives.

Brendan O’Brien is a career Foreign Service Officer with 16 years of experience, he has worked as consul general at the U.S. Embassy in El Salvador and Argentina. He was also a director of the office of American Citizen Services and Crisis Management in Washington, D.C.

Next U.S Ambassador to El Salvador, Ronald Douglas Johnson

On October 5, 2018, President Donald Trump nominated Ronald Douglas Johnson as the new U.S. Ambassador to El Salvador, which was ratified on the 27th of June 2019, by the Senate of the United States during an executive session. Ambassador Johnson will arrive in El Salvador in September 2019.
