The United States and El Salvador began their diplomatic relations in 1863, historical event that has led to progress and strengthen the bonds of friendship over time.

The United States is one of the main political and economic partners with El Salvador, an alliance that has been reflected in priority areas such as: Migration, Security, Partnership for Growth, Fomilenio I and II, Alliance for Prosperity, and many other projects of economic-commercial development and cooperation.

In our bilateral history, it has also been marked by the diaspora residing in the USA and by the execution of joint efforts in the field of security and cooperation for development.
