It’s a great joy to be here this afternoon and see you all in your jerseys!
A couple weeks ago I mentioned to a group of PAL participants how sports teach us so many values, such as discipline and perseverance. I believe that now, after finishing this Camp, all of you know that.
I am sure I do not have to tell any of you that working together as a team is the only way to win a competition. Because in a team everyone has different abilities and strengths and everyone has an important position.
We are all part of a team. I want to thank the U.S. State Department Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) and the Foundation Patria Unida (Homeland United) for working as a team in the coordination of this Camp.
I also want to thank the National Civilian Police (PNC) for their dedication and commitment to the Police Athletic League. Currently, we have 11 leagues in different districts throughout the country and we plan to open eight more in February 2018.
And, last but not least, I want to thank Ronaldinho for being part of our team and coming here to give hope to all these young people who are accompanying us this afternoon.
Young boys and girls, believe me when I tell you that there are many people who believe in you! There will always be someone at your side — maybe a teacher or a coach, a friend or family member. And, just as Ronaldinho has been an inspiration to you, you too can be the inspiration. You have the power to change someone else’s life. Dare to be part of our team, because each of you is valuable. Each of you is important. Each of you deserves the opportunity to build your future. And on behalf of all of us I say that we believe in you. We have confidence that each one of you can change this country and become the pride of El Salvador.
