President Trump Announces his intention to appoint the next United States Ambassador to El Salvador

October 2, 2018

As part of the standard three-year period of service and Senate confirmation cycles for career Ambassadors, the White House has announced President Trump’s intent to nominate Ronald Douglas Johnson as the next U.S. Ambassador to El Salvador following Ambassador Jean Manes.

Ambassador Manes was nominated by the White House in October 2015, and the Senate confirmed her nomination in December of that same year.  There is not yet a current estimate as to when the U.S. Senate may act on this most recent nomination.

Ambassador Manes will continue to strengthen the relationship between our two countries and extends her congratulations to Mr. Johnson on his nomination.
