I want to give a special welcome to Honduras, Mexico, Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Guatemala and of course El Salvador. We also have members of our Embassy and that of Guatemala and Honduras that is, and I want to talk about the elephant in the room, as we say in English.

Obviously people can have a different perspective on migration policies, and each country has a different policy, and the policy sometimes changes with our governments. But what do I like about this room? That it is not a room with only chairs. We have tables in this room, and what does that indicate? That we are here to work. That we are here to find options, that we are here to find solutions. We have a policy and we have to find a way to move forward.

And how do Salvadorans already know, as well as my team from the Embassy, I am a practical person and that I like what I see on the face of each one of you? Each person in this room is dedicated to improving people’s lives and looking for options. We are here to learn from your experience because we know that there are people in this room who have decades of work on this issue of migration and reintegration of people. And obviously Barbara has already spoken about the support of the United States. We are 100% committed to finding solutions for you.

When we combine the efforts of governments, the private sector, and civil society, that is when actions can truly be found for people who are returning to their countries of origin. But there is also a total commitment to the Alliance for Prosperity and for the countries that are outside this region of the northern triangle, there is a plan for the three countries of their own governments in El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras called the Alliance to Prosperity, and we are committed to supporting your plan that has to do with improving security, improving employment opportunities, strengthening the economy and also strengthening the institutions of a country that can be the judicial system even the police. Because we believe in the countries of origin, and we want to create an environment where citizens do not feel the need to leave. Of bringing her family to another country and taking the risks of doing so because she cannot find a way for her family to create a future in her own country. People who want to find employment to support their family and that is the reason that we are investing so much in the countries of Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala, to strengthen the economy and grow opportunities.

Because wanting to believe that social commitments and but at the end of the day, generating employment for is difficult to

Because if there is no job for people who are already in the country, there is no job for people who are returning. And that is something that we are working very closely with the government of El Salvador, with the private sector and, of course, with civil society. And obviously the decision of the TPS for El Salvador and the recent decision on the TPS in Honduras that we are making is even more important. Because we have to find actions. And we have to do it the best way we can. Because we know that each person benefited from TPS is not only one person. Behind each person is a family, and behind each family there is a community and it is our responsibility as governments and civil society and also as a private sector to find actions and I have confidence in you who have dedicated their lives that with your help your ideas and Your support if we can find solutions and if we can do it for the people who are returning to their countries of origin and in this group we want to hear that if they are sharing their experiences, because we want experiences from the entire region and we need their efforts, we need their ideas and we are at your side we are going to continue supporting the alliance for prosperity, to improve the economy and improve security, and you can always count on that.
