First of all I want to congratulate all the young scholars who are graduating now. I congratulate you not only for successfully completing your studies, but also for having the courage, courage and determination to invest in yourselves, and education is the best investment you can make for yourself. Because education opens doors, as has been the case for two of her classmates: Karla and Lorena.

Karla already had experience as a caregiver for geriatric patients, she took care of her parents and other people, but she did not have knowledge about the special care that the elderly population requires. She had been interested in training in geriatric care for a long time and thanks to the scholarship she was able to make that dream come true. This knowledge of hers now allows her to be self-employed and perform professionally in her duties as a caregiver for geriatric patients.

Lorena, on the other hand, was a graduate of a nursing degree and was looking to specialize in the area of geriatric care. The career guidance she received from her helped him get her first job. She currently cares for 6 older adults in the institution where she has been hired.

Whether as Karla, who works independently, as an entrepreneur, or as Lorena who now works for an institution, both now have the opportunity to develop in something that they are passionate about and that at the same time fills a great need in the country.

We know that Salvadorans have a strong desire to excel and seek opportunities to excel, and as the United States government, we are committed to continuing to support their development.

I thank our partners, OIM and the Ministry of Education, ESCO as well as the Mayor’s Office of Ilobasco, the Vice Ministry of Diaspora and Human Mobility and the Departmental Government of Cabañas for their support.

Congratulations to all.
