This morning we are here to give something much more than wheelchairs: we are giving mobility, independence and quality of life. These are things that many of us take for granted. However, for others these are great privileges.

All people, regardless of the breadth of their abilities, deserve the opportunity for a dignified life, to be active members of their communities, and to lead a fulfilling life. It is a true honor to know that the United States is supporting institutions like ISRI whose focus is helping those most in need.

I want to recognize the great work that ISRI does to ensure the well-being of Salvadorans and I thank Dr. Ligia Gallardo and her team for this great work. His work has a real impact on people’s lives. The United States government is very proud to continue to support their efforts.

We have a very special relationship with El Salvador, and we will continue to lead with our cooperation so that no Salvadoran is left behind.

Thank you.
