The U.S. Embassy in San Salvador, through its Military Group and thanks to the Humanitarian Assistance Program (HAP) of the United States Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM), delivered a donation of Personal protection equipment, disinfectants, spray equipment (fumigators), and portable hand washing stations to the municipality of San Juan Opico, in the Department of La Libertad.
The donation, valued at more than $25,000, was delivered by the Deputy Attaché of the Army, Major Travis Oscarson, to the Mayor of San Juan Opico, Dr. Abigail Girón.
The equipment will be used to support first responders and the general population, in order to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, the Embassy, through HAP and thanks to Southern Command, has donated more than $400,000 in supplies to support municipalities and institutions to protect themselves from COVID-19.
