The United States Embassy in San Salvador has consular jurisdiction for all of El Salvador.
The American Citizen Services (ACS) Unit in the Consular Section is open every business day from 7:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. with the exception of U.S. and Salvadoran holidays and the first Friday of each month as an Administrative Closure. Holidays are also posted monthly at the Chancery entrance of the Embassy, located on Urb./ Boulevard Santa Elena.
The American Citizen Services (ACS) Unit does not handle Visas, Immigration information requests, or Salvadoran passports and National Identity Card (DUI) inquiries.

For After-hour Emergencies, you may call + (503) 2501-2999. This phone number is ONLY for assistance in an emergency directly affecting a U.S. Citizen in El Salvador. Emergencies include death, arrest, kidnapping, missing persons, child abduction, medical emergencies, victims of crime, and lost or stolen passports with an imminent scheduled travel.
For ALL other Non-Emergency Services
Please note that staring on September 12, 2017 you will need an appointment for ALL Consular Services. We will not accept appointments more than 15 minutes before or 15 minutes after the scheduled appointment time.
Appointments are required for ALL Consular Services including Passports, Consular Reports of Birth Abroad (CRBA), Follow-up appointments and Notarial Services.
