U.S. Embassy suspends nonimmigrant visa appointments for business and tourism travel

As of March 17, 2020 and until further notice, the United States Embassy in El Salvador is suspending B1/B2 nonimmigrant visa appointments. We will resume routine visa services as soon as possible but are unable to provide a specific date at this time.

The Embassy reminds visa applicants, who already have a scheduled appointment, that the MRV fee is valid and may be used for a visa application in the country where it was purchased within one year of the date of payment.

For people who have urgent cases and need to travel immediately, follow the guidance provided in the following link to request an emergency appointment.

We will continue nonimmigrant visa appointments for those requesting emergency travel, students, exchange visitors, and temporary workers.  We will continue appointments for immigrant visa applicants in support of family reunifications.
