United States announces second batch of 1.5 million vaccines for El Salvador

July 20, 2021

The United States is pleased to announce that we are preparing to ship an additional 1.5 million doses of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine to El Salvador on Thursday, July 22, at 7:45 a.m.

This second shipment adds to the 1.5 million doses shipped to El Salvador on July 4 and is part of over $30 million in bilateral pandemic assistance to El Salvador — including Personal Protection Equipment, freezers, testing capacity, and other equipment — since the start of the pandemic.  As President Biden has said, “America will be the arsenal of vaccines in our fight against COVID-19.”

We are proud to be able to deliver these safe and effective vaccines to the people of El Salvador.  The United States is helping lead the world out of this pandemic, building a world that is safer and more secure against the threat of infectious disease.
