A delegation headed by the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Central America of the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs of the U.S. Department of State, Eric Jacobstein, arrived in El Salvador to meet with different sectors of Salvadoran society and authorities.
Brian Nichols, Assistant Secretary for Western Hemisphere Affairs of the State Department, in announcing Jacobstein’s meeting in the country, emphasized that in El Salvador there is “important work ahead to support citizen security, legal processes and other root causes of irregular migration”.
During his visit, Undersecretary Jacobstein heard from leaders of civil society organizations. The delegation then had the honor of meeting with Acting Foreign Minister Adriana Mira to discuss shared objectives and priorities between the United States and El Salvador.
They then arrived in Ilopango, where they visited some communities and listened to the experiences of residents who have suffered situations of violence.
